Our statement on the COVID-19 Pandemic:
The Boulder County Democratic Party is committed to the health and safety of our volunteers, our delegates, and our community. State law and state party rules dictate what we can do, and we are currently exploring options to conduct the business we need to while keeping everyone safe. As of right now, our school districts have cancelled all event contracts -- as a result, County Assembly on March 28th will not occur at Skyline High School. Our team is working with candidates, campaign staff, the Colorado Democratic Party, the state legislature, and delegates to develop a plan and we will keep everyone posted via website, social media, and email. At this time, we are exploring holding a digital assembly on March 28th, so please continue to save the date.
This crisis has been and will continue to be exacerbated by the structural inequities that exist in our healthcare system. In addition to the White House’s flawed response to coronavirus, conservative policies on the federal and state level have weakened our social safety net. When our neighbors cannot receive the care that they need or cannot afford to take time off from work when they're ill, everyone is threatened. Our platform calls for strengthening our safety net through a single payer healthcare system and other programs that will support workers so that our community has the resources it needs in order to safely navigate this crisis.
Governor Polis has done an admirable job leading Colorado's response to this outbreak and we need to continue working towards legislative solutions that will prevent something like this from happening again.
