2022 Boulder County, State & Federal Candidates
Meet the New HD10 Candidate: Junie Joseph
As a Haitian immigrant who came to this country as a child, I believe in our dream of freedom. But increasingly our freedoms are threatened. I am running to represent House District 10 to ensure we have basic human rights like housing, healthy food, clean water and air, living wages, safe neighborhoods, and the freedom to live our lives without fear.
Service is a core value to me. Before coming to Boulder for law school, I worked for the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, for the U.S. Agency for International Development in the Ivory Coast (Côte d'I·voire), and I served as a White House intern in the Obama administration.
Serving on Boulder City Council, I have advocated for issues such as climate resilience, affordable housing, human rights, gun violence prevention, and equitable community engagement. I am a former Mayor Pro-Tem and I am a member of city, regional, state, and national committees. I chair the Policy Committee for the Colorado Municipal League, and I serve on the National League of Cities Human Development Committee and the Race, Equity, and Leadership Council.
I am a former precinct captain with the Boulder County Democratic Party and I am currently an Area Coordinator. I am also a small business owner and a family lawyer.
My priorities are similar to those of many of us in Boulder: climate strategies that reduce emissions and build community resilience to climate disasters; living wages, and social services that promote clean air and water, healthy food, and safe neighborhoods; and basic human rights, including abortion access, education, criminal justice reform, marriage equality, and gender equity in healthcare.
