Caucus 2022 is Virtual (and so is County Assembly)

This year's Caucus was virtual, hosted on Zoom. Caucus attendees will attend an online meeting that will contain multiple precincts. Exact meeting times and links will be provided via the online registration process. Precincts have changed, so remember to check your new precinct.

But that not the only thing that's changed.

The 2022 Caucus will not hold preference polls for candidates, so delegates will not be elected for specific candidates, but will all be uncommitted. At County Assembly, which will also once again be virtual, preference polls for candidates, and delegates for those candidates, will be elected to move on to the State Assembly.

How to participate:

FAQ

  • When is my Caucus?
Your online Caucus time and link will be provided when you pre-register. Click here to pre-register.
  • Do we have a Primary in June?
Yes, the Primary will be June 28. The Caucus is the first step in the process for candidates to be able to get onto the Primary ballot. If they don't get enough support at Caucus, or they don't participate, they can also petition to be included on the ballot.
  • By when do I have to register as a Democrat to attend Caucus?
The deadline to register as a Democrat to participate in Caucus is February 11, 2022. If you haven't registered as a Democrat by that date, you will not be able to participate in Caucus. If you've moved, you can change your address to participate in your Caucus until that same date.
  • What's happening at the 2022 Caucus?
Caucus is the most grassroots way to participate in the Democratic process. Each Caucus online meeting will gather together multiple Precincts from neighborhoods in your area. During the meeting, attendees will continue to nominate At-large Delegates and Precinct Committee Persons (also known as PCPs and Precinct Leaders), from each precinct, to attend the County Assembly on March 26th. No preference polls for candidates, or delegate election by candidate, will be held at Caucus this time, but will happen at Assembly instead. Voting will be done by electronic ballot form sent to all attendees at 7pm. The voting period will end at 11:59pm on 3/5.
  • Do I need to pre-register for Caucus?
Yes. Pre-registration will be required to attend. Pre-registration will be available starting February 16th. In your confirmation, you will receive:

    • your Voter ID and Precinct number, which you will need to attend and complete all electronic forms
    • the start time for your caucus
    • the link to your Zoom Caucus meeting
    • a link to an online Nomination form where you can self-nominate as an At-Large delegate to the County Assembly and/or a Precinct Committee Person (PCP) for your precinct.
    • There will also be a brief registration form to enter the Zoom Caucus meeting. You will need your provided Voter ID.

  • How to I get elected as an uncommited Delegate and/or Precinct Committee Person (PCP)?
There will be three options for nomination:

    • Once you pre-register for Caucus, you will receive a link to an electronic form where you can nominate yourself. Pre-nomination will be be open from February 16 - March 1.
    • You will also be able to nominate yourself during the Caucus meeting at the appropriate time.
    • As well, someone else can nominate you if you cannot attend the Caucus meeting.

Elections will be by electronic ballot, emailed to Caucus attendees at 7pm. The voting period will end at 11:59pm on 3/5.

  • What is a Precinct Committee Person/ Precint Leader, and why should I become one?
If you want to build Democratic grassroots power and ensure all voices are heard in your neighborhood, you should run to be a Precinct Leader at Caucus! Precinct Leaders serve as the liaison between the party and precinct. In this role, you'll get to know your neighbors, help get out the vote, and become a member of the BoCo Dems Central Committee -- the body that elects officers and makes critical decisions about the party in Boulder County.
  • How do I check or change my Voter Registration?
Please visit the Secretary of State website.
  • Where can I look at the Boulder County Democratic Party draft 2022 Platform?
  • Can 16- and 17-year olds participate in Caucus?
While Coloradans must be 18 to vote in general elections, a new state law allows 16- and 17-year-olds to participate in this year’s caucus. Boulder County youth must be registered to vote and affiliated as a Democrat by Feb. 10 to participate in the Boulder County Dems Caucus.
