We are excited to announce that our Congressman Joe Neguse will be hosting Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as this year's Truman Celebration speaker!
Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez was sworn into the US Congress in January of 2019 to represent New York's 14th Congressional District. She has been one of the most bold and progressive leaders in the U.S. House, championing transformative proposals like the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and much more.? She is a constant champion for the voiceless and ensuring that government represents all of the people, not just the powerful
"Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez is not only a great friend, but an amazing colleague, whose ability to speak truth to power has inspired millions of people across our country, including many here in Colorado. Andrea and I are so excited to welcome her to Boulder!" says Congressman Joe Neguse.
The Truman Celebration is the Boulder County Democratic Party's largest annual fundraiser that brings together Democrats from around Colorado to celebrate our party's work and make it possible for us to continue leading the state in Democratic voter turnout. Please join Boulder County Democrats, their families, guests, and community activists in enjoying the speeches and calls to action from our community leaders.
Scholarships, Awards, Auctions & An Incredible Speaker. At the celebration, we'll recognize scholarship recipients from around the county, and we'll hear from an inspiring speaker who is an impactful elected official or activist. We will present five incredible party activists with awards to recognize them for their service to the party and our democracy. You'll have a chance to bid on auction items donated by local businesses, individuals, and our esteemed elected officials. We'll invite you to participate in a few games & our special Paddle Raise Event - an important inspiring call to action from our state elected leaders.
Last year's record-breaking Truman Dinner was enjoyed by 360 attendees, 25 scholarship recipients, and 10 sponsors. This year, we're building up our scholarship program to make the Truman Celebration more accessible to more people around the county. If you can help us by sponsoring a scholarship or a table, please donate when you purchase your ticket. We can't wait to top it this year as we build a powerful party that engages voters around the county ahead of the 2020 presidential election!
