Thank you for your dedication to getting Know Your Rights (KYR) information for yourself and to pass onto others.

The BCDP Outreach and Inclusion Team has led a volunteer effort to distribute KYR information throughout the community in Boulder County and beyond. This effort has been driven by individuals who feel strong about partnering with community members that are being targeted by the Federal Government’s unconstitutional actions.

We are providing you with links to KYR cards and posters to hand out and display as needed.

Would you like to participate in this activity? We’d love to have you join us.

Do this work with courage, care, discipline, and respect for the people most impacted.

TIPS FOR HANDING OUT RED/BLACK CARDS

Remember that you are an ally and you care about people. That will speak louder than you can imagine. You do not have to recite these suggestions but draw from them. We hope that this info will alleviate any reservations about reaching out to the immigrant community to offer a “RED CARD” with critical info. Some of these encounters will be totally spontaneous, so, be prepared by carrying cards. If you are uncomfortable, you could invite a friend to go with you. Eventually you will feel comfortable on your own. Do not be afraid to strike up a conversation. People know that you are trying to help them. They can feel your warmth and heart felt compassion. You may feel like you are profiling someone but it is a “good profiling.” People will not be offended even if they speak English. They may have family members or friends who are living in fear.

CONVERSATION FOR ENGLISH-SPEAKING:
“Excuse me, how are you? My name is (_________) and I’m a volunteer here in the community. I have Red and Black Cards to help people with information about immigration and their constitutional rights. If you would like to have one or know of someone who could use this information, please take this and pass it on.”

“I can give you more than one if you’d like. The Black Cards could be taped inside of the residents door.”

“I hope this helps and I hope that you know that we care and support you. I want to help get this information out. You can ask them if they have any concerns or questions.

CONVERSATION FOR SPANISH-SPEAKING:
Hand the person a Red Card and you can say: “If you know somebody who needs this, please give it to them. I have more cards and cards with more information.”

IF YOU DO NOT SPEAK SPANISH:
We are working on creating a You-tube style video which will be available FOR you to show to the voter from your phone. We will keep you updated.

CONVERSACIÓN A:

“Perdoname, ¿cómo está? Mi nombre es (_________) y soy voluntaria en la comunidad. Tengo esta Tarjeta Roja/Negra para ayudar a las personas con información sobre inmigración y sus derechos. Si desea una o conoce a alguien que pueda usar esta información, por favor tómela y compártela”.

“Puedo darle más tarjetas si quiere”.

“Espero que esto le ayude y espero que sepa que la comunidad nos preocupamos por usted y lo apoyamos. Queremos ayudar a repartir esta información”.

Le deseamos lo mejor, cuídese y que este seguro.

Si usted habla español, puede preguntarle si tienen alguna inquietud o preguntas.

CONVERSACIÓN B:

Dale una Tarjeta Roja/Negra a la persona que esta enfrente y puede decirle: “Si conoce a alguien que necesite esto, por favor déselo. Tengo más tarjetas”.
